Statutory body constituted in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (PoSH Act).
About Internal Committee (IC)
The Internal Committee of Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar has been constituted as per the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The Committee is empowered to investigate complaints of sexual harassment raised by female students or employees, conduct impartial inquiries, and recommend punitive actions to the Competent Authority.
What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?
As per Section 2(n) of the PoSH Act 2013, sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior (whether directly or by implication):
- Physical contact, stalking, and unwelcome physical advances.
- A demand or request for sexual favors in exchange for academic or employment benefits.
- Sexually colored remarks, inappropriate jokes, or unwanted digital messages.
- Showing pornography or objectionable material.
- Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of sexual nature creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
How to Lodge a Complaint
Do not feel ashamed or hesitate. Any aggrieved woman may submit a written complaint within 3 months of the incident. Inquiries are conducted in complete camera proceedings ensuring complete confidentiality of identity.
